Charles and Jareta Sturgell formed "The Sounds of Salvation" ministry in 1997. The ministry was formed on a foundation of faith, prayer and a deep love of God. Our desire is to go where God sends us to reach the lost for His Glory!

 Rev. Charles Sturgell
Charles grew up singing country music in his fathers band but quit singing for a while after his father died. Charles and Jareta were married in 1986 and music became a big part of their lives again in 1992 when Charles started writing songs. He started out writing country songs and won a couple of songwriting contests. But their focus changed after Charles developed cancer (non-hodgkins lymphoma) in 1994. After two years of treatments and two reoccurances God miraculously healed him, saved his soul, called him to preach and put them in the ministry. Now they only sing and write gospel music. Jareta Sturgell
Jareta grew up playing the pianoand singing hymns in her home church. She was saved when she was eight years old at Hamlet Baptist Church in Benton, Kentucky. She says, "I can still remember what it felt like when the Lord was knocking on my hearts door! That's a day I'll never forget. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this ministry and I look forward to serving the Lord daily. I could never repay Him for all that He has done for me." The Lord has also blessed Jareta by allowing her to write and compose original material for the group.
